Two part journey to the Sugar Loaf Mountain

The cable car is the easiest way to get to the top of the mountain, but going there does not mean 1 entire trip, the trip is split into two stages.

The first trip takes you 220 meters high from the Praia Vermelha which is the foot of the mountain up to Morro da Urca. The first leg lasts 3 minutes only but provides tourists with a panoramic view of Rio and the Guanabara Bay.

Each cable car can carry up to 65 passengers with each trip happening every 20 minutes. The second trip will take tourists to another 396 meter high trip to the peak of the Sugar Loaf. The last cable car will run at exactly 8:00 pm so you better head out to the Sugar Loaf earlier than that to catch the last trip.

Restrooms and elevators are provided for both trips for the ease and convenience of the passengers.
